Nope, I use soft white wheat! If it's super sticky, you may just need to add a bit extra flour :-)

I am wondering if there is an error in your recipe card saying to you soft white wheat instead of hard white wheat.
I was so excited to try this recipe and had to wait for lard to be in stock at my local grocer. Set today aside to completely focus on this new recipe and I'm so disappointed. I followed it exactly and let it rest a half hour and it was really sticky so I left it another hour and nothing has changed.

In reply to <a href="https://grainsandgrit.com/flour-tortillas/#comment-224">Linda Donaldson</a>.

I like to make a traditional manteca (lard) from a nice ham bone and any large portions of ham fat. Once chilled, the fat rises to the top and solidifies, while the bottom layer turns into that nutrient-rich gelatin. Take the lard off and save it for these wonderfull tortillias. These tortillas will have a subtle smoky depth from the ham lard — especially good with beans, eggs, or pulled pork. The lard also makes a fantastic base for soups, beans, or even a rich bread dough.
