Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1-1/4 cups pure cane syrup (from sugar cane, non-diluted)
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1-1/2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 unbaked pie crust

Instructions

  • Boil sugar and cane syrup together 2-3 minutes.
  • Beat eggs, not too stiff, and pour SLOWLY into the hot syrup.
  • Add butter, pecans, and vanilla.
  • Pour into a raw pie shell and bake at 375 degrees F for about 30-35 minutes or until set. Do NOT overcook, otherwise it will taste burned.
  • Wait until cooled to slice and enjoy!

Notes

The problem with most pecan pie recipes is they use GMO corn syrup. Well, here in Florida, the "cracker" pioneers gave us sugar cane syrup. And it's still made today the way it was made 200 years ago. 100% GMO free!
Now, this authentic, Florida-style recipe won't taste quite the same as what you're used to. It's a hearty, more rustic flavor. But down here in the south, we love it!
