This is the BEST sweet potato pie recipe, in my opinion. My family could live on these if I allowed them.
The great thing about sweet potato pie is it can be served either hot or cold.
Serving hot makes a great side dish, serving cold makes a great dessert especially with copious amounts of whipped cream!
Bonus points: it’s crazy easy to make.
Perfect to use with my flaky pie crust recipe!
Sweet Potato Pie
Delicious sweet potato pie that is perfect for Thanksgiving or any time of the year!
Ingredients
- 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes fresh is best, but can use canned sweet potatoes
- 1/3 cup butter softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup evaporated milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/3optional
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 unbaked pie shell
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F
- Add all ingredients in bowl (except pie crust) and mix well until smooth
- Pour mixture in unbaked pie crust
- Place in middle or lower third of oven at 425 degrees F. Bake 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, turn oven temperature down to 350 degrees F and bake for another 35-40 minutes. Pie is done when toothpick comes out clean from the middle.
- Place on cooling rack. Let rest for about 15-20 minutes before slicing.
- Can be served hot or cold! Delicious cold with whipped cream!
Notes
If ingredients are not room temperature, it is normal for the butter to look like tiny little bumps when mixed. This is fine, it will melt in oven!

Could you make a table of contents or number the pages at the bottom of the “recipes” tab. As is, I have to start over each time I print from your web site. I have to click “older recipes” several times to get back to the next recipe to print.
Thanks
Laura
Unfortunately, I am unable to do that at this time without a full redesign. Just know you can search for recipes at the top of this page under the big banner image. I will try to look at ways that makes finding recipes easier! Thanks for the suggestion!
woohooo – we will have some of this tonight – thank you for taking the time to give us recipes, tips and well everything! I am grateful. Angie (Dothan AL)
